Dear Postdocs and Research Associates,
We hope this message finds you well and safe.
Tax filing can be daunting, especially for international folks who are currently getting to know the US Tax system. Please find below key resources to guide you through the steps of Tax Filing:
- the HIO has a webpage with everything you need to know about the 2021 Tax Filing season
- For NON-RESIDENTS, please use Sprintax to file your taxes.
-
- they are hosting a series of webinars - register at the bottom of that page
- if there are no seats left, you can watch a recorded webinar here
- they also published this blog article to help nonresidents navigate the COVID19 stimulus payments (and how to return them if you received them by mistake)
- For RESIDENTS FOR TAX PURPOSES, you CANNOT use Sprintax. You can use other services like TurboTax, H&R Block, Credit Karma, etc.
-
- TurboTax has shown to be a popular choice and they have videos and resources on their webpage to help you navigate this software.
We hope that you find these resources helpful.
All the best
