HMPA postdoc survey + salary update 2022-23

May 20, 2022

Dear postdocs,

We would like to thank all of you who participated in the salary survey organized by the advocacy committee of the Harvard Medical Postdoc Association in winter 2021. We are delighted to let you know we had an amazing response (1400 postdocs across HMS and Harvard affiliated hospitals answered, perhaps the highest postdoc voluntary response received in the HMS and Boston area).

HMPA efforts with the HMS postdoc office have resulted in a significant increase in postdoc salaries. You can see the updated salary scale for 22-23 here:   https://postdoc.hms.harvard.edu/guidelines#Salary-Stipend

HMPA is grateful to the HMS office for postdoctoral fellows for their continued support in postdocs’ interests. We want to thank Esra Yalcin (HMPA advocacy chair), Rosa Martinez Corral (advocacy committee member), and Mayank Chugh (HMPA Chair) for spearheading the salary survey and other HMPA committees’ chairs and members for successfully executing this initiative.

We are currently looking into other aspects and concerns raised in the salary survey. We will keep you updated. In the meantime, keep an eye for HMPA election announcement and feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

All the best,
HMPA
