HMPA would like to announce our new Arts Initiative: a collection of events and programming designed to celebrate the artistic side of our scientific researchers. Through our recent survey, TEA Times, and social media solicitations, we came to realize how talented our constituents are in areas outside of the sciences. Furthermore, many of us have utilized our creative side to deal with the stress of the pandemic by reading, painting, playing music, etc. We hope you will join us in celebrating the other side of postdoc life that is less nurtured during our training. Below is a collection of existing and new events/resources, many of which are currently virtual but we intend to grow when in-person events resume. Please continue to exercise mask usage and social distancing for any of the in-person meetups!

Do you have paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs, music, poetry, dance routines, etc. that you would like to share with other postdocs? Now you can display your work on HMPA’s website and social media! Each month we will select a topic, starting with Celebration of Women for the month of March. Please send us your favorite pictures, stories, and art about women that have impacted your life. Movie Club
Each month we will screen a movie free of cost to postdocs, followed by an optional Zoom to discuss the movie or just meet other film enthusiasts. We are currently working out licensing fees and an online platform with The Postdoc Office, but watch our newsletter for an upcoming event!

Our committee member, Lawson, loves to explore the city by walking around and is beginning to explore nature in western areas of Massachusetts. He is organizing informal walks and hikes 1-2 times a month for anyone looking to get fresh air and meet other postdocs.
