The Harvard Amgen Scholars Program is seeking postdocs who would like to volunteer to explain their research and/or scientific career to the program students, a small cohort of 12 undergrads from diverse institutions across the US. For more information about what they are looking for, and possible dates, please see below. If you are interested in participating in any of the two events, please email Pam Gaddi at pjgaddi@fas.harvard.edu as soon as possible.

The program is hoping to find postdocs that would like to participate in either (or both) of the following events:

  1. Talk about your research (50 min) with 10 min of Q&A - 1 speaker– Students are interested to hear about research happening at Harvard in the following areas Stem Cell and Regenerative Bio, Systems Bio, Neuroscience, Immunology, biomedical engineering

Possible dates: June 28 or July 12*,   5pm – 6:15pm.  Technically, the meeting goes to 6:30pm, but the last 15 mins at the end are reserved for any program announcements or debrief.

      * (dates in August may also open up)

  1. Post doc Panel:  2-3 post docs needed–  Possible Topics/Questions to discuss:

·         Educational trajectory: motivations to be in academy or elsewhere, how did you go from grad school à academic postdoc

·         Importance of mentorship and making connections; how is your relationship with mentors different as compared to when you were a grad student

·         Your Present: What’s your day like?  Does managing your time change in this stage of your career? How has the pandemic shaped what you’ve done, what you think about science and your future career?

·         Your Future: What is next for you? How do you cultivate skills that are outside of your very niche research, while you are in the thick of doing research?

·         What is your advice for students who are thinking about graduate school, matriculating into graduate school and medical school? Any words of wisdom about how they pursue the next few years?

Possible dates: June 28 or July 12, 5pm – 6:15pm.
