Dependent Care Resources: Senior Care Planning, Child Care Scholarships, and the EdNavigator Program

July 14, 2021

Childcare

Dear Postdocs,

The Office of Work/Life would like to take this opportunity to remind faculty and staff of some of the dependent care resources available to those with seniors and/or children in their lives.

  1. Senior Care Planning:
If you have an elder or other adult family member you are concerned about, you can get in-depth individual and family consultations, an action plan, family meeting facilitations, and referrals to national networks of vetted service providers. This free program is provided by Care.com and a pre-registration waiver is required.
  2. EdNavigator Program:
For those with school-aged children, connect with a local education professional who can help you understand your child’s learning needs and progress in school, particularly with disrupted schooling through the pandemic. This free program also includes Camp Kinda with engaging activities on and offline to keep kids busy during the summer.
  3. Child Care Scholarships:
The annual application for the University-wide, Child Care Scholarship program is LIVE in PeopleSoft! The application will be available from Wednesday July 14 through August 11, 2021. It should take less than 20 minutes to complete your application and much of the information is pre-populated from the PeopleSoft system (read further information in the attached flyer and below).

Please visit the Office of Work/Life for a complete overview of work/life services and resources, including the Employee Assistance Program, the Mindfulness Program (which now includes a free subscription to the Ten Percent Happier app) and more.

PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY

Please see the attached document which provides child care scholarships program information and details the five eligibility criteria covering the employee, their household, and the income cap. If you meet all of the criteria you are invited to apply. (Note: if you are in a union-covered support staff role learn more about the HUCTW child care scholarships process and deadlines.)
