Workshop description

Postdoctoral fellows and research associates navigate and engage in complex research, frequently with additional responsibilities, in environments with distractions that can impact productivity and decrease efficiency. This represents only a portion of one’s responsibilities, however, and having a balanced integration of work and life is critical to success in all aspects. We’ll discuss strategies and resources for establishing priorities, managing focus, and managing time, but ultimately the best time management tips and tricks are the ones that you use.

Learning objectives

Participants can understand:

  1. The key elements of time management: goal setting, organization, delegation, and relaxation
  2. How to use SMART(ER) goals to manage important priorities
  3. How procrastination and perfectionism are two barriers to managing time
  4. Resources for managing activities, especially those that can be automated
