Meet Mariasilvia, a dynamic postdoctoral researcher who recently graduated from her PhD program at the Telethon Institute for Gene Therapy in Milan. During her studies in Italy, she made significant strides in unraveling the complexities of uncontrolled inflammation and pioneering an innovative gene therapy approach for inflammatory diseases.Now, Mariasilvia has embarked on a new journey at the Boston Children's Hospital (BCH) and Harvard Medical School (HMS), under the mentorship of the Dr. Maria Gutierrez Arcelus. Her scientific interest lies in delving deep into the molecular and cellular mechanisms that underlie autoimmunity, while also learning cutting-edge techniques to decode the genetic footprints behind autoimmune diseases.
Beyond her work, Mariasilvia thrives in social settings. She enjoys networking and building connections. Therefore, she has recently taken joined HMPA social committee, where she will help in organizing various events to foster a sense of community among our fellow postdoctoral researchers.
