The innovation and research teams in the Center for Primary Care are kicking off a Case Writer Student Internship for 2017. This opportunity is open to medical, dental, Post doc and PhD students. In developing a case study, participants will focus on medical innovation, entrepreneurship, and unconventional career trajectories. The Center for Primary Care has created a shortlist of protagonists for the case study. This is an exciting opportunity for a student to interact with leaders in the field of healthcare innovation and entrepreneurship. The case writer will play a pivotal role in supporting this research and will be expected to produce scholarly materials. This is not a laboratory or clinical research position.
The Case Writer for the Entrepreneurship Initiative will work with the Special Advisor to the Dean, the Research Director at the Center for Primary Care, as well as other research/innovation staff members at the Center. The Case Writer will:
· Conduct on site field research at local or regional sites.
· Collect, analyze and synthesize qualitative data
· Write and edit the case, and other research products and deliverables related to the project
· Assist in designing research protocols and submitting IRB applications, if applicable
· Consult with faculty and staff affiliated with the initiative on research projects, design and data collection
This position will function at a highly independent level and will be expected to produce quality deliverables with minimal supervision. Travel and related expenses will be covered.
The Case Writer will be required to spend on average ten hours a week over the course of 4-6 months. She/He must show flexibility in meeting with HMS staff that is supporting the work.
Outstanding academic record; excellent writing, research, analysis, communication, organizational skills are essential. Top-notch empirical research skills (qualitative), as demonstrated by prior research projects, graduate-level work, publications or employment experience. Demonstrated ability to participate in a significant research project through all stages including conception, design, writing and publishing. Strong background in social or behavioral sciences.
The Case Writer must have good humor and be flexible, enthusiastic, thorough, and highly organized. The Case Writer must handle confidential material with discretion, have a strong team and service orientation, and be able to work collaboratively and independently. Must have ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines with attention to detail. Previous qualitative research experience also will be highly valued.

The start date of this project is flexible but must be completed by December 2017.
